Sitagliptin- Januvia Introduction

MK-0431 is a well known drug but widely known as Sitagliptin is a another name for the same orally taking drug which belongs to the dipeptidyl peptidase-4 group of drug in abbreviated form it is written as (DPP-4). This drug is widely used as a drug to control diabetes especially diabetes mellitus. These drug is taken alone or in combination with other drugs like thiazolidinedione or metformin or any reproductive drug of same class. These is basically a enzyme-inhibiting drug, thus it has some side effects like less weight gain, less hypoglycemia in order to control glucose of blood but these side effects are not taken much because it shows excellent results.

The main action of these drug is to reduce or diminish the activity of enzyme oriented proteins which in turn reduces the formation of glucagons and thus insulin level increases and which turn controls the glucose level in blood and thus diabetes is controlled. Sitagliptin is one of the basically and easily available drug of the market because its side effects are not much but its result are satisfactory and it is easy to intake because it is available in pill form and there is no need to inject it and it even does not have much bitter taste hence no problems are faced by patient to intake it and thus can be regularly taken.

Usually the dose suggested by doctors is twice the day after the meals because during that time glucose level increases so to control it is taken after meals.
